Dear Steven,
Our American Dream house meeting is this weekend! It's part of a growing American Dream movement—over 25,000 people
are signed up for meetings on Saturday and Sunday. We'll
share our concerns and hopes about the direction of our country and discuss how we can rebuild the American Dream.
Here are some important steps to prepare for our meeting:
-
Review and print out your Participant Agenda and
bring it with you to our meeting. You'll need the Agenda to participate in discussing and rating the ideas that will
form the Contract for the American Dream. If you do not have a printer, I should have extra copies on hand, but
please print yours if you can.
-
Bring a symbol to the meeting that represents what the American Dream means to you. This will help stimulate conversation
toward the beginning of our meeting. The symbol could be a photo, object, poem, song, or something else that sums up your
vision for the American Dream.
-
Share your experience. Bring a camera and take pictures at the meeting so that
we can share them with the rest of the movement. After the meeting, you can send photos to dreammeetingphoto@moveon.org.
You can also share with friends what's happening during your meeting by posting on Facebook, and on Twitter using the hashtag
#DreamMeeting.
Even as we develop our long-term vision and plan, there's a standoff in D.C.—Republicans could force America into
default and crash our economy to protect tax breaks for corporations and millionaires. In this moment of crisis, we need
to speak out against immoral priorities in Washington. That's why on Monday, thousands of us are organizing to deliver a
message to Congress that we cannot default on the American Dream.
See you this weekend,
Cindy M.
