{"id":19790,"date":"2015-03-10T16:53:13","date_gmt":"2015-03-10T20:53:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ssgreenberg.name\/PoliticsBlog\/?p=19790"},"modified":"2015-03-10T16:54:04","modified_gmt":"2015-03-10T20:54:04","slug":"are-the-republicans-and-netanyahu-actually-heroes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ssgreenberg.name\/PoliticsBlog\/2015\/03\/10\/are-the-republicans-and-netanyahu-actually-heroes\/","title":{"rendered":"Are the Republicans and Netanyahu Actually Heroes?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I read this response to an article on <em>The Daily Kos<\/em>.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll call it<a title=\"The Daily Kos comment\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dailykos.com\/comments\/1369700\/55850521#c275\" target=\"_blank\"> Are the Republicans and Netanyahu Actually Heroes?<\/a>\u00a0 I think the following paragraph excerpted from the comment best summarizes the point the commenter was making:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>When a segment of the Iranian ruling establishment thinks that the correct strategic choice is always on the opposite side of what the Jewish guy thinks, or in this case what the conservative Christian Republicans think, it&#8217;s not that hard to picture them being maneuvered into accepting whatever Rouhani&#8217;s guys agree to in Geneva.\u00a0 Picture Rouhani sending a trusted emissary to talk to the Majlis hardliners and all he&#8217;ll have to say is &#8220;you should support this deal because the Republicans and the evil Jooz are against it.&#8221;\u00a0 As soon as they hear &#8220;Jooz,&#8221; half of those hardliners will all be falling over each other to support the deal.
