Jackie Speier of California, whose office soon determined some of the messages had come from constituents who didn\u2019t recall sending them. Her aides pointed to a memo sent to members\u2019 staff last week by Lockheed Martin, which manages the technology behind some lawmakers\u2019 \u201ccontact me\u201d Web pages. Lockheed initially said it had \u201csome concerns regarding the messages,\u201d including the fact that \u201ca vast majority of the emails do not appear to have a valid in-district address.\u201d In some cases, Lockheed also questioned the \u201clegitimacy of the email address contact associated with the incoming message[s].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe idea that an outside group could use consumer data to impersonate constituents suggests an attempt to hijack the important feedback members of Congress need to truly represent their districts,\u201d Speier said in a statement, without naming a culprit.<br \/>\n.<br \/>\n.<br \/>\n.<br \/>\n\u201cThis is identity theft, but instead of impersonating for financial gain, the originators of this theft are striking at the heart of our representative democracy,\u201d Speier said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>My ass, it&#8217;s not for financial gain.\u00a0 There is tremendous financial gain to be made by stopping the FCC from regulating internet companies as utilities.\u00a0 If those gainers succeed, then the rest of us lose.<\/p>\n<p>If this isn&#8217;t a violation of the <a title=\"Definition of RICO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/?gws_rd=ssl#q=rico+law\" target=\"_blank\">Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act<\/a> as it is now being applied, then I can&#8217;t imagine what is.
