This isn\u2019t an argument against Sanders. It\u2019s genuine fascination with his dilemma, because no candidate can win the Democratic nomination without the black vote. Despite memorable debate lines and cover for an email-embattled Clinton, Sanders didn\u2019t really budge all that much with black voters. Here are three main reasons that\u2019s the case &#8230; and why it probably stays that way:\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Even on the Tavis Smiley interview, Bernie Sanders immediately went to the economic issues as the reason why black voters should support him. For once in his life, maybe he could start out with BLM and Sandra Bland before he gets to economic issues and high rates of incarceration.<\/p>\n<p>The anger issue comes up in thie article in a slightly different way.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n<strong>2. Bernie should watch more black pastors on Sunday. <\/strong>While it\u2019s still anecdotal, the core of Sanders\u2019 black-voter problem could be this: He\u2019s too depressing. Comedian Larry David couldn\u2019t resist the temptation <a href=\"http:\/\/theroottv.theroot.com\/video\/SNL-Democratic-Debate-with-Larr\" target=\"_blank\">in last week\u2019s <em>SNL<\/em> skit<\/a> to call out Sanders\u2019 aggressive \u201cthe sky is falling\u201d ethos.<\/p>\n<p>For sure, African-American voters generally love the public figures who claim to \u201ckeep it real\u201d and cast rebellious shade at the \u201csystem.\u201d But candidates who successfully woo black constituencies are those who can illustrate hope.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sure, the black interruptions at the Sanders events have displayed a lot of anger.  That&#8217;s only the side of the discussion that we have seen.
