{"id":2719,"date":"2009-12-18T15:24:42","date_gmt":"2009-12-18T20:24:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ssgreenberg.name\/PoliticsBlog\/?p=2719"},"modified":"2009-12-18T15:34:53","modified_gmt":"2009-12-18T20:34:53","slug":"pass-the-senate-health-care-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ssgreenberg.name\/PoliticsBlog\/2009\/12\/18\/pass-the-senate-health-care-bill\/","title":{"rendered":"Pass the Senate Health Care Bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Follow <a title=\"Krugman column\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/12\/18\/opinion\/18krugman.html?_r=1\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>this link<\/strong><\/a> to Paul Krugman&#8217;s editorial explaining why we should pass this deeply flawed bill.<\/p>\n<p>To his reasons, I can add a few thoughts of my own.<\/p>\n<p>Remember the adage, &#8220;it isn&#8217;t over until the fat lady sings.&#8221;\u00a0 In this case, the vote on the reconciled bill is when it is over.\u00a0 There is some hope that something can be salvaged during the reconciliation stage.\u00a0 If the Senate bill does not pass, there is no chance to get to the next stage.\u00a0 Who knows what clever strategies Obama and Reid can come up with.\u00a0 If we cut them off at this point, they won&#8217;t have a chance to show us.\u00a0 If they have nothing to show, they can always be cut off at the reconciled bill.\u00a0 If the reconciled bill is good enough, the whole thing can be improved in later years.<\/p>\n<p>Remember the other adage <q>revenge is a dish best served cold<\/q>.\u00a0 What future will Ben Nelson and Joe Lieberman have in the senate after this performance?\u00a0 Good luck if they need anything from any other Senator.\u00a0 A good Democratic election strategy would be to remind voters how harmful the Republicans and <q>not quite right wing bat sh*t crazy<\/q><sup>&#134;<\/sup>  Democrats were.\u00a0 Convincing voters to get rid of some of these bozos is a lot easier than getting 60 votes in the Senate.\u00a0 You only need a majority of voters in each Senate race to vote against the bozos.<\/p>\n<p><sup>&#134;<\/sup> <q>not quite right wing bat sh*t crazy<\/q> is the actual description of the group of Democrats that the media is calling &#8220;moderate&#8221;.\u00a0 To describe all of the Republicans and some Democrats, just remove the &#8220;not quite&#8221; qualification.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Follow this link to Paul Krugman&#8217;s editorial explaining why we should pass this deeply flawed bill.
