{"id":3560,"date":"2010-03-16T06:33:46","date_gmt":"2010-03-16T11:33:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ssgreenberg.name\/PoliticsBlog\/?p=3560"},"modified":"2010-03-16T06:43:47","modified_gmt":"2010-03-16T11:43:47","slug":"u-s-anger-over-east-jerusalem-row-is-excessive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ssgreenberg.name\/PoliticsBlog\/2010\/03\/16\/u-s-anger-over-east-jerusalem-row-is-excessive\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Anger Over East Jerusalem Row Is Excessive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Follow <a title=\"Story in Haaretz\" href=\"http:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/hasen\/spages\/1156819.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>this link<\/strong><\/a> to the story in the Israeli newspaper, Haaretz.<\/p>\n<p>This gives the other point of view to my previous post, <a title=\"Previous Blog Post\" href=\"http:\/\/ssgreenberg.name\/PoliticsBlog\/2010\/03\/15\/a-serial-obstructionist\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>A Serial Obstructionist<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As with all issues in Israel, I don&#8217;t know which side to believe.\u00a0 Of course that&#8217;s no different from political issues in this country.\u00a0 Sometimes it is hard to know who to believe.<\/p>\n<p>Of course the Haaretz article doesn&#8217;t take into account the political problem faced by President Obama.\u00a0 The Palestinians may be taking advantage of the Obama administration&#8217;s seeming anger over the Jerusalem row.\u00a0 However, the Palestinians may be taking advantage of Netanyahu&#8217;s demonstration that you can walk all over the Obama administration and they will be powerless to do anything about it.<\/p>\n<p>It is not clear to me which position that Obama could take that would be more harmful to Israel in the end. Netanyahu has made his political calculation to do what he has done.\u00a0 Time will tell who is the better political calculator, Abbas, Netanyahu, or Obama.<\/p>\n<p>As for the analysis in Haaretz, I would hardly call Obama&#8217;s attempts to strengthen sanctions on Iran, <q>extending a hand<\/q> to Iran, unless you mean  by <q>hand<\/q> a closed fist.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Follow this link to the story in the Israeli newspaper, Haaretz.
