{"id":3790,"date":"2010-04-19T16:11:09","date_gmt":"2010-04-19T21:11:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ssgreenberg.name\/PoliticsBlog\/?p=3790"},"modified":"2010-04-19T16:11:09","modified_gmt":"2010-04-19T21:11:09","slug":"obama-dares-republicans-to-fight-wall-st-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ssgreenberg.name\/PoliticsBlog\/2010\/04\/19\/obama-dares-republicans-to-fight-wall-st-bill\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama Dares Republicans To Fight Wall St. Bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Follow <a title=\"Story At Politico.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/stories\/0410\/35829.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>this link<\/strong><\/a> to the story that is posted on Politico.com.<\/p>\n<p>How ironic, that in the post <a title=\"Precious post\" href=\"http:\/\/ssgreenberg.name\/PoliticsBlog\/2010\/04\/17\/gates-says-u-s-lacks-policy-to-curb-iran%e2%80%99s-nuclear-drive\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Gates Says U.S. Lacks Policy to Curb Iran\u2019s Nuclear Drive<\/strong><\/a>, I wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>At least this administration is a little more subtle about it.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t challenge anybody to &#8220;bring it on.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In this case, it think it is about time for the President and the Democrats to take on a more forceful attitude.\u00a0 They have learned the lesson that negotiating with Republicans at this stage of the proceedings only tends to weaken the bill.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t bring any votes from the Republicans, and it doesn&#8217;t stop them from lying about what is in the bill.<\/p>\n<p>All the serious ideas from the Republicans have probably already been raised.\u00a0 Those with merit have been included.\u00a0 The rest is just political gamesmanship.<\/p>\n<p>I also like the idea that the administration has challenged the media to do their job It is time to stop pretending that one cannot tell who is being honest and who is saying one thing while being paid to do another.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Follow this link to the story that is posted on Politico.com.
