{"id":4736,"date":"2010-09-17T19:04:35","date_gmt":"2010-09-18T00:04:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ssgreenberg.name\/PoliticsBlog\/?p=4736"},"modified":"2010-09-18T17:42:28","modified_gmt":"2010-09-18T22:42:28","slug":"the-tax-cut-racket","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ssgreenberg.name\/PoliticsBlog\/2010\/09\/17\/the-tax-cut-racket\/","title":{"rendered":"The Tax-Cut Racket"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In <a title=\"Paul Krugman column\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/09\/17\/opinion\/17krugman.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>The Tax-Cut Racket<\/strong><\/a>, Paul Krugman almost gets to the point I am making about this tax cut war.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Almost everyone agrees that raising taxes on the middle class in the middle of an economic slump is a bad idea, unless the effects are offset by other job-creation programs \u2014 and Republicans are blocking those, too.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If he could only get to the point of explaining that raising the taxes of the wealthy in the middle of an economic slump is not a bad idea if the effects are offset by other job-creation programs, then he will reach the epiphany that I have reached.<\/p>\n<p>I am afraid that the previous paragraph&#8217;s cut and paste operation that I did on Krugman&#8217;s statement is too complicated for people to figure out on their own.\u00a0 Someone in the administration has to come out and actually say it explicitly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In The Tax-Cut Racket, Paul Krugman almost gets to the point I am making about this tax cut war.
