{"id":8067,"date":"2011-09-29T20:17:54","date_gmt":"2011-09-30T01:17:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ssgreenberg.name\/PoliticsBlog\/?p=8067"},"modified":"2011-09-29T20:22:43","modified_gmt":"2011-09-30T01:22:43","slug":"analysis-model-planes-as-weapons-of-terror","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ssgreenberg.name\/PoliticsBlog\/2011\/09\/29\/analysis-model-planes-as-weapons-of-terror\/","title":{"rendered":"Analysis: Model planes as weapons of terror"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In researching an idea to post, I found the <em>CNN<\/em> story <a title=\"CNN story\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2011\/09\/29\/opinion\/model-plane-attack\/?is_LR=1\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Analysis: Model planes as weapons of terror<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Ferdaus was arrested Wednesday in Ashland, a small town just to the west of Boston &#8220;in connection with his plot to damage or destroy the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol, using large remote controlled aircraft filled with C-4 plastic explosives,&#8221; according to a press statement from the Massachusetts U.S. District Attorney&#8217;s Office.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>For the point I want to make, it doesn&#8217;t really matter that Ferdaus was arrested in Framingham although he lives in Ashland.<\/p>\n<p>On <em>WBZ News<\/em>, I saw an expert in radio controlled planes say that lifting 5 pounds of explosives with the planes Ferdaus had might be pretty difficult.<\/p>\n<p>That was small comfort when I started to think about the possibility of someone buying U.S. military drones on the black market.<\/p>\n<p>The above <em>CNN<\/em> article does all the analysis for me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In researching an idea to post, I found the CNN story Analysis: Model planes as weapons of terror.
