Sweden and Norway, for example, both experienced a major power shift in the 1930s after prolonged nonviolent struggle. They \u201cfired\u201d the top 1 percent of people who set the direction for society and created the basis for something different.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Didn&#8217;t the U.S. have a major power shift in the 1930s?\u00a0 How come the Swedes and Norwegians have managed to keep their shift longer than we did?<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t think the following articles are the answer, but they do show how far we have to go.<\/p>\n<p>From <em>Truth Out<\/em> we have, <a title=\"Article from Truth Out\" href=\"http:\/\/www.truth-out.org\/wall-street-candidates-friend\/1327701532\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Wall Street: The Candidate\u2019s Friend<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>President Obama may talk a good populist game and even kick some corporate butt when he goes on the attack against Wall Street \u201cfat cats.\u201d Yet he still enjoys the company of bankers \u2014\u00a0<strong><a title=\"From Bill Moyers\" href=\"http:\/\/billmoyers.com\/2012\/01\/23\/the-washington-wall-street-revolving-door-keeps-spinning\/\" target=\"_blank\">see our \u201cOn Democracy\u201d essay on the subject<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 and for all their grumbling about his policies, the investment community is coming up with significant cash for his re-election; the kind of change they believe in.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The article from Truth Out points to the article from the <em>Sunlight Foundation<\/em>, P<a title=\"Article from the Sunlight Foundation\" href=\"http:\/\/sunlightfoundation.com\/press\/releases\/2012\/01\/26\/political-contributions-financial-sector-increased\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>olitical Contributions from Financial Sector Increased 700% Since 1990<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><a title=\"Article from the Sunlight Foundation\" href=\"http:\/\/sunlightfoundation.com\/blog\/2012\/01\/26\/on-fire-how-the-finance-insurance-and-real-estate-sector-drove-the-growth-of-the-political-one-percent-of-the-one-percent\/\" target=\"_blank\">A new analysis<\/a><\/strong> prepared by the Sunlight Foundation shows that wealthy financial sector donors gave $178.2 million in political contributions in 2010, more than ten times what they gave 20 years ago.
